Photo of the week 34: Inside we go

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

Hey, well this weekend was the first annual Vancouver Mountain Unicycling Weekend. It was fantastic and had a great turn out, around 50 people came to bomb down some of the best trails in the world. Due to work, I was out of the country for the first day but was able to attend the last 2 days. They were both amazing and fun!  The  level of  riding was awesome.

Anyways this week’s photo highlights an important thing for any Canadian rider during the fall and winter seasons, that is underground parking lots. When it is raining or snowing outside you can always get your uni on in these underground refuges. If your lucky they will have high ceilings and a few pallets for you to use. If not it is time to practice your Flatland!

In this photo is Neil Phillips, and was taken by me (Bryan Corry) in the underground of a Safeway grocery store in Downtown Vancouver.

Cheers

Bry

P.S Undergrounds are helpful for us Westcoasters but are vital for those of you whom reside to the east!

Switching back rims

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Last winter I bought a new rim & spokes because my turquoise rim was starting to be pretty beaten up, and, mostly because the spokes and nipples I had on it were really really weak. Well, with time my white nimbus rim got beaten up too and I changed back to my turquoise rim, which is pretty straigth, except for the flatspot it has :\ . Oh well, here’s a picture from it today.

Photo of the week 33: Stylin

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Hello again and welcome to photo of the week 33. I see your a regular attendee, I hope you enjoy your time here. Haha…

Anyway this week’s photo is of Sean Goode. It was taken at Jericho beach in the beautiful western area of Vancouver and  was taken by myself, your host, Bryan Corry.

This photo really shows Sean’s very unique and awesome style. Sean has a very flowing and committed style, by this I mean he commits himself to a line and will try to hold onto it even when most other people would have bailed. This photo very much highlights this. Sean is one of the few riders who could throw his body this far over and still manage to complete the line (which he did), he didn’t even touch.

It is funny that for the most part Sean has only ridden with me and yet our styles are so very different. The same thing goes for Neil and Ali both of whom I ride with on a regular basis. We each bring with us our own unique style. I could try to describe each of our styles but instead I will, the next few weeks, try to capture each of their styles in a photo to publish here.

Cheers

Bry

P.s Fall is fast approaching, time to land that line you have been struggling with the whole summer!

Photo of the week 32: Hidden areas

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Hello all, this week’s photo is of Neil Phillips. It was taken at the University of British Columbia by yours truly.

This photo highlights one of the best parts of unicycling, the exploring. By riding a uni you get to explore so many different areas that you may have never noticed while walking. This particular area was located between 2 different buildings.

Cheers

Bry

P.S if you ever visit Vancouver I highly recommend a ride at UBC. Your trip isn’t complete without a good ride here!

Photo of the week 31: Flash in the evening

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

Hello all, this weeks photo of the week has been a bit delayed due to many many reasons including: computer malfunctions, too much riding, working and a holiday. But we are now back to the same bat time, next one on monday, on the same bat channel!

So this week’s photo is of myself. It was taken at english bay by Marc Edwards. I think that often we don’t think about taking pictures once it starts to get dark. Not only is riding at night or at dusk a ton of fun, but also photos taken with a flash at such times can really turn out well. The flash can be used  to illuminate certain features that are overlooked during  the daylight hours.

Cheers

Bry

P.S yes that log was as sketchy as it looks!
